Here’s an exclusive trancevoice interview from Darren Tate, with questions about his new forthcoming album, Perfect World.

01 for how long have you been working on this album?

some of the songs date back five years – but really the bulk of the work has been carried out over the last two years.
02 Hold Me Till the End is such a gorgeous song. where do you get that kind of inspiration? what things make you create a song?

I usually have a concept in mind when I approach a project. naturally this was a DT8 Project track and that pseudonym identifies with powerful emotional chord structures with strong counter melodies. I believe Hold Me is a perfect example of this. as for the music itself I don’t know whether it’s tfrom the mind, the heart or the soul. I like to think a bit of all three.
03 could someone have been better for this track than Andrea Britton?

Andrea Britton isn’t singing on this track – it’s a newcomer called Alexta who features across most of the album.
04 I think its so great when rock music mixes with electronica. what rock bands do you listen to, other than Bush of course?

I quite like the trancier sounding rock bands – Coldplay, Keane, Radiohead, plus of course the classics like U2 etc. although that sound is starting to get repetitive. check out the opening single Lose Yourself for a different take on dance and rock.
05 how does a perfect world looks like to you?

hard to say – nor would I wish to imagine it after all a really perfect world would just be dull.
06 you seem to have a lot of the black continent’s influences. is this your top fascination at the time?

in which way? there are only two black artists that feature on the album (and only one on CD1) although I think there is some really soul in some of the songs.
07 how was it to work with such a living legend like Mory Kante?

I didn’t work directly with Mory as he recorded out of my studio – he originally wrote the song element against an early version of Wilderness (as Jurgen Vries). I really liked the vocal and adapted it to fit a more suiting backdrop.
08 who’d you wish to sing for you?

Stevie Wonder, Bono, there are many..
09 ok, last one.. where do you see yourself in about 10 years from now?

I’ll think I’ll be more involved in writing film scores.
